Spoiler Alert – Skip This Article If You Are A “Grey’s Anatomy” Fan
If you are one of the millions of fans of the hit TV show, “Grey’s Anatomy”, you might not want to read this article. The fans of the show around the globe are shocked by the producer’s decision to kill one of the leading character in the award winning series.
The episode aired on Thursday night was one of the most shocking in the history of TV drama, as Dr. Derek Shepherd, the leading male protagonist of, now legendary, “Grey’s Anatomy” was killed in a car accident. The handsome doctor was helping a victim of a car crash, when he heroically lost his life.
This was the scenario of the death, although there were some, obviously ridiculous, claims that the creators of the show decided to kill Shepherd in the Japanese sea, or by dropping a helicopter on his head. ShondaRhimes, the original creator of “Gray’s Anatomy” said that “Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character — for Meredith (Grey), for me and for the fans,” in a statement given to the Hollywood Reporter. She added that she newer hoped for this kind of ending for Shepherd, or McDreamy as she called him, and that “Patrick Dempsey’s performance shaped Derek in a way that I know we both hope became a meaningful example — happy, sad, romantic, painful and always true — of what young women should demand from modern love. His loss will be felt by all.”
The actor playing Doctor Shepherd, Patrick Dempsey has one more year left in his contract with the producers, so the death of his character came as a complete surprise for everyone. The character of Doctor Meredith Grey, play by Ellen Pompeo, is now left widowed, and it will be interesting to see where are thing going to go now.
Following the death of his character in the TV show, the actor Dempsey said that “It’s been a remarkable ride,” and added that “The worldwide impact has been extraordinary. It is incredible how devoted and passionate the fans are, and I will forever be grateful and humbled by the experience.”
