Cecile Richards; president of Planned Parenthood, faced the congress’ scrutiny on Tuesday to discuss regarding some issues on the said federation. However, instead of being given the chance to explain her side, Cecile was always interrupted by GOP representatives, which she said to be an explicit manifestation of their determination to cut off reproductive health care access to America’s women.

In an interview done by MSNBC, Cecile said; “I believe the hearing was done so the congress will persuade themselves even more that denying women the ability to select a health care provider is okay. And we are talking here about 2.7 million women and men who opt for Planned Parenthood”.

For five hours, all that Cecile did was trying to answer all questions thrown to her by the congress. Sadly, she was always cut off while attempting to explain the issue further. And as the hearing went on, combative questions were asked but never was she given the chance to answer these questions completely.  Instead, she was asked about travel and salary expenses and selling of fetal tissues to get gain. All these, she tried to answer. But according to Cecile, “they don’t want to discuss issues that are relevant to the topic of the hearing.”

As per Congressional Budget Office, defunding Planned Parenthood means compromising the health care preferences of 650,000 women. Hence, in many of the country’s state, officials are barred from removing the fund for this federation.
