How to Fix Nigeria: The Judiciary
09/28/08
The Judiciary occupies a very important, significant and strategic position in every society. A good, independent, upright and incorruptible Judiciary precipitates happiness and orderliness of the society. It is not a bad idea to include anti-corruption as part of the curriculum in primary and secondary schools in Nigeria, so that our children can grow up hating the menace by nature. Our Yesterday was Bad But Tomorrow Looks Good
09/08/08
Peter Obi, governor of Anambra State, has weathered many storms since he became governor of Anambra State two years ago. He went to court to validate his election after it was rigged by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2003 gubernatorial elections. He triumphed at the court and his mandate was restored. Shortly after he assumed office, lawmakers in Anambra State impeached him. He headed for the courts and again, won. While he was there, the 2007 gubernatorial election was held and Andy Uba from PDP won. On May 29, 2007, Uba was sworn in as governor and Peter Obi went to court to argue that his tenure had not expired. He was reinstated.
Since his last court battle, he has fought other battles including wrestling members of the National Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, and touts which held Onitsha and its environs under siege to the ground. He has calmed the stormy waters of Anambra politics and is concentrating his efforts on developing Anambra State through its integrated development blueprint. In this interview with Bala Dan Abu, executive editor and Maureen Chigbo, general editor, Obi, who is a 1984 graduate of Philosophy from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, talked about the challenges of rebuilding Anambra State and other national issues, including the crisis in the Niger Delta. Excerpts:

The man Exploited my Desperation - Asiaya
09/01/08
My daughter, one of my children was diagnosed as having hole in the hearth. I needed money to treat her. I took her to Kanu Nwankwo Heart Foundation, but help was not coming from that side. I was told that she could get treated in India; that they have very good heart surgeons there. As the devil works, one guy who appeared to be very sympathetic to my daughter’s plight approached me in a garden, a public park near the Lagos State House of Assembly where I usually go to do my architectural drawings. The garden is maintained by one of the banks. The guy, one weekend early July, gave me N10,000.00...
