On Thursday, Disney announced its plan to begin production of a second part to its most popular movie Frozen during the shareholders meeting of Walt Disney in San Francisco. The company did not announce the release date or details of the proposed movie sequel.

The Frozen movie won the Oscar award for the best animated movie last year, making over $1.27 billion in sales and even brought in a lot of profit from the sales of its toys produced by Mattel Toy Company.
The writer of this movie Jennifer Lee, the director Chris Buck and producer Peter Del Vecho, will come together once again as the production team for the movie’s sequel.
Walt Disney’s chief creative officer, John Lasseter, Bob Iger, the Chief of Disney, and the movie character Olaf’s voice Josh Gad all announced the production plan on Thursday. This move was quite expected because the “Frozen” animated movie became a great money bag for the firm since its premier in November 2013.
Immediately after this announcement on Thursday, there was a 4 percent increase in Disney’s shares, and a 5 percent increase in the shares of Mattel (the firm licensed to produce Frozen toys and other products).
Mattel has been making a lot of sales from Frozen toys and still experienced a lot of sales in February. Walt Disney called this an “incredibly strong quarter”. This is because of an increase to the firm’s net income to $2.2 billion, rising up 19 percent more within the past quarter – way better than expectations.
On iTunes, the soundtrack of the movie Frozen was the most sold album in the United Sates within the year 2014, even the movie was named the highest selling ever on iTunes in December. There was more than 3 million Blu- ray and DVD sales made on the initial date of release, breaking all previous records for any other movie.
John Lasseter, the Chief Creative Officer said – “We enjoyed making ‘Frozen Fever’ so much and being back in that world with those characters. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that”.
