Shira Banki is one of the victims of the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish man; Yishai Schlissel who stabbed 6 people with a long bladed knife during Jerusalem’s gay march. Shira died several days after the attack since she was seriously wounded.

This is not the first time Yishai Schlissel did the attack since similar incident happened last 2005. He just came out from prison 3 weeks prior to his current attack and had spoken angrily against the said parade. The parade was well under way when the attacker burst out from the crowd stabbing people before he was seized by the police.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed his condolences to the family of Shira Banki. “The death of Shira happened because she bravely sustained the principle that everyone has the right to have a safe and dignified life”, Prime Minister Netanyahu said.

“We won’t allow the loathsome murderer weaken the fundamental values upon which our society is based”, Netanyahu stated.

Jerusalem is reputed for its tradition and rich religious history. It holds annual modest parade which is exactly opposite to liberal Tel Aviv’s grand parade inviting more than 100,000 individuals this 2015.
